Waggy Tails as Santa’s Little Helpers meet Chelsea Pensioners

Whoever said dogs are not for Christmas have not met Santa’s little helpers from Battersea’s Dogs Home! These little doggies brought some Christmas cheer to Chelsea Pensioners and there were lots of wagging tails as the furry visitors shared some Christmas treats with the veterans at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, and provided the cheer and companionship that only dogs can.

I can’t help but wonder how many biscuits these little doggies managed to bag in the process! *waggy tail*

Battersea has created a programme of regular dog visits to provide companionship and walks for the residents in the Royal Hospital. The dogs are very popular with the veterans (and I imagine the veterans are just as popular with the dogs!), and are able to visit anyone who would like to meet them, including any less mobile Pensioners in the Infirmary. The Chelsea Pensioners are also invited into Battersea to volunteer for the charity.

Chelsea Pensioner Dorothy Hughes, formerly of The Royal Artillery Regiment, said:

“Everyone really looks forward to the dogs’ regular visits, and it was wonderful to see them looking so festive in their special Battersea jackets decorated with tinsel. We were all thrilled to receive this special visit from the dogs, and they were like Christmas elves, bringing the festive spirit into the Royal Hospital.”

Help a Dog get his Christmas Lunch

This Christmas Battersea expects to care for 500 dogs and 175 cats across its three sites. To ensure all the animals receive a treat on December 25th, the Home is asking supporters to donate special Christmas lunches, costing just £2.50. Supporters can also donate presents which staff will give to animals on Christmas Day. Find out more and donate a Christmas lunch at www.battersea.org.uk

Hey Alfie,

That’s such a cool programme, it looks like everyone is having so much fun!!

I notice they didn’t have to wear silly Elf Hats in order to be Santa’s Little Helpers unlike Mum tried with me!! :)

Have a fun day buddy,

Your pal Snoopy :)
