Roooo, the winning picture of the Kennel Club’s Dog Photographer of the Year Competition is absolutely pawsome.
Its got action,
its super sharp,
cool composition,
and its showing a very clever dog doing what they do best – herding.
The only bad thing about the winning shot is that its not of an Entlebucher herding cows, instead the photographer Catherine Laurenson snapped Border Collie Max herding sheep on his farm in Shetland. But I’ve got to admit, he’s one hell of a herding dog!
You can check out all the winning photos from the various categories on Flickr.

Aw, sorry to hear it wasn’t you and Alfie taking that top spot. (I LOVE the photo and caption of Alfie’s reaction to the news!) Your photos are amazing though and I’m glad to hear this hasn’t dampened your enthusiasm for next year. We’ll be rooting for you through all your competitions!
Well, your mom is a pretty good photographer so keep trying and you might win next year! Darn Border Collies!
Love this face!
