My Rock n’ Roll Thursday – or its all Fun and Games until someone ends up at the vets

This is what five stitches look like

I was so excited when my human came home from work yesterday. We were going to my sister Bella and we were gonna have our first agility class together.

You might remember that I started another agility class a while back with my buddy Archie, but a series of circumstances including a dead body falling off a plane causing traffic chaos, bad holiday planning and general transport problems put a stop to that adventure.

Anypaw.

Seeing Bella

We hopped on the train and I was on my bestest behaviour all the way to Bella’s home town. I knew the way to their house so I lead the human straight there and greeted my sister with a big roooo oooo oooo.

We had so much to talk about my sister and I, so we set off on a game of chase whilst catching up on what we both got for Christmas and how pawsome the Christmas food smelled. The humans made themselves some tea and joined us in the garden. When they went over to have a look at the rabbits (Bella has three pet rabbits!) I spotted a toy up ahead and sped up to get it before Bella spotted it too.

All doped up and sleepy

A wall of fur

I was just going to sink my teeth into the toy, when smash out of nowhere I crashed into a wall of fur that smelled of Bella. The side of my head really hurt and I sounded the puppy alert alarm to call for help. My head was spinning with stars and moons and everything as I spun around trying to get my bearings. The human caught me and straightened me up again. Thank dog for the puppy alert alarm, or else I might have toppled over.

The two humans checked me over and decided that I probably needed to see the v-e-t. At this point both Bella and  I thought I was fine and we wanted to go back to our game of chase but the humans said we were just being stubborn Entlebuchers and I really ought to have that eye checked out.

Bella's human drove us home from the vets

The vets

The vet was a really nice human who knew Bella from before so he was extra nice to me. I sat patiently while he checked out the gash running across my eye brow. He said it needed cleaning out and stitches too to make it better.

My human asked if they couldn’t glue it back together but I put my paw down and said I wanted stitches so I would at least get  a cool scar out of the adventure. The vet agreed with me and said they don’t recommend gluing doggie eyebrows. They had to sedate me and I woke up all groggy a while later with five cool stitches above my eye.

Our little adventure landed us with a hefty vets bill, but I was mostly disappointed that I missed my agility class again. I really hope neither of us have to go to the vets before next weeks lesson *Waggy tail*

Have you ever landed yourself a cool scar or stitches?

Glad to know you’re ok now Alfie! What a story!!
You really do lead a very interesting and eventful life, both you and Bella!
I’m really glad that Bella’s human took you to their v.e.t. and that he turned out to be such a nice person. Your stitches look like a very good job-well-done!
Now don’t forget to take some time to totally recover from having been sedated?!
You’ll be as new soon!
Big hugs for you and your human, and for Bella and hers as well – it must have a scary adventure for them too…
And good/better luck on the next agility class!

Firstly hope you are on the mend Alfie. I got a puncture or rather two in my muzzle once when I tried to get a squiggle and I had to go to the dogtor. Apart from that no cool scars. Wear yours with pride pal and make sure you make up a good story to go with it. Have a fantastic Friday.
Best wishes Molly

My only stitches were when I got spayed. I am sure you will heal up fine and the fur will cover a lot of your scar. Hope the vet bill expenses don’t cut into your doggie snack fund! We heard about that dead body falling out of a plane, tragic and totally weird, glad it did not land on you or another dog! Get well soon!

Oh Alfie, that was some pawsome spinning you did when we bashed. I didn’t know what had happened. The noise and your pup alarm call and spinning made me scared. Sorry I ran off bro, I couldn’t help it! I’m glad my vet saw you … he’s pretty pawsome … I have a big welcome for him every time I see him. Knew he’d look after you! Hope the human doesn’t restrict you for too long bro! Lots of puppy licks and kisses.

I really liked your vet Bella – he wasn’t as scary as mine *Waggy tail*

You do know that from now on ALL your treats are MINE, don’t you? *Waggy tail*

Hey Alfie… I had stitches on my eyebrow too when I was a little kid. And guess what? I did the same exact thing that you did! Except I was chasing my grandpa’s dog. Those stitches make you look pretty tough.

I’m feeling sympathy pains in my eyebrows for you right now… I’ve never had to get stitches like that and neither have the pups. But, Dottie likes to try and climb trees like squirrels and more than once has ripped off a nail leading to a vet, sedation and a cleaned up, wrapped up paw. Moral of the story… don’t climb trees!

Glad you are OK. Cuts, stitches and vets are no fun. Strange something keeps getting in the way of Agility class. :)

Poor Alfie! Glad you are okay:) My sis Ash had stitches once. She ran around the corner and cut her leg on the gutter. Ash’s doggy alarm alert was so loud that the humans heard her clear inside the house. She was really loud! They had to take her to the doggy ER cause it was late in the evening when it happened. She didn’t like having stitches so much either! She couldn’t swim in the pool and that didn’t make her very happy! Hope you get those stitches out real soon!
