My friend Archie runs a doggie spa boutique where we live here in London. I don’t know if you’ve ever met him, but he’s kind of a little guy – you can see him here where we celebrated his birthday last year. I asked him if he couldn’t order some bigger, tougher toys for dogs like me who like to shake my toys around for a while before burying my teeth into them. He looked at me, smiled and said.
‘Alfie, I have just the job for you. I have just got this new batch of Tuffy toys and was wondering if you could test them for me and let me know what you think.’
‘Rooooo – can I test them? Boy will I test them for you!’ I replied and wagged my tail.
Then I set about testing the toy properly for a couple of days. So far the Octopus has survived tug-o-wars, shaking, chewing and being slammed in the muddy ground and still those big eyes are starring at me asking for more. I think that means top marks for both the fun factor as well as durability!
Then I thought, why don’t I get my human to write some more reviews about all the hundreds of toys we’ve tested since I moved in with them as a puppy? After all, we are kind of experts now when it comes to knowing what toys will break after five minutes and which ones are more durable. Said and done, we went through our photo archives and wrote this article about tried and tested durable dog toys together. Hope you find it useful!

Awesome photos! Looks like you’re having an absolute blast there, Alfie! I’m glad Mr. Octopus survived your testing but boy did he get dirty fast. Maybe they have one in brown?
Mr Octopus did get rather dirty after a while and my human decided it needed a wash and its been an indoors toy since then – its still lots of fun to shake it about indoors though. I’m pretty sure they make other darker colours too!
Woof! Woof! That’s good …Its hard for me to keep a stuffy toy. So far one one survived. Happy testing. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
It is difficult isn’t it? They usually just break as soon as you put your teeth on them *waggy tail*
That squid looking thing seems like a really good time! I’ve thought about getting a Tuffy toy for Elka, but even with the guarantees and rating and what have you, I’ve been hesitant. Nothing stuffed has lasted yet!
One week in, so far so good! The Octopus is still looking like an Octopus *waggy tail*.
My human says I have to say that this toy is for interactive playing, not for intense chewing sessions – better off buying a chew bone for that sort of thing! Having said that, not many toys last even five minutes even for a simple game of fetch so this one is really quite durable!
Great pictures! He wasn’t very yellow when you were done with him Alfie! LOL!
I think he might be going in the laundry machine soon *waggy tail*
that is a super cool toy!
Isn’t it just – I just loooove how the Octopus legs keep flapping around when I through it up in the air! *waggy tail*
Hey Alfie, Jet here. Once you are through testing, I suggest giving the toy to my sister, JJ, the Chewminator!
You can both come over for a game of chase! *waggy tail*
Looks like fun, Alfie! That’s my kind of toy.
