What, You Need me to Supervise the Security Arrangements for the Olympic Cycling Road Race? No Problem – I’m the Right Dog for the Job!

by Alfie Entlebucher on July 28, 2012

Just doing my part for the Olympics

Yesterday we watched the Olympics opening ceremony on TV, and it was pawsome. The humans loved the music, the spectacle, and watching the Queen parachuting from a helicopter. But I had my eyes on the real talent. Did you spot the sheep doggies herding the 70 sheep in the middle of the stadium on that green hill? They were so good they should have been given a medal!

Supervising the Games

I had to go to bed straight after the ceremony, because I had a big job to do today. I guess you’ve all heard about the problems getting enough security staff in time for the games? Well, I’m a good kind of guy so I offered to volunteer and keep an eye on things when the Olympic bike race got to my part of town – in south west London.

That’s right, I was head of security, supervising thousands of people gathering to watch the men’s cycle race today.

It was a hard day’s work, but I’m pleased it all went to plan, even though team GB didn’t win this time around.

What’s your favourite Olympic sport?

Top marks for decorations!

Barriers in place - check!

The humans seem to like this sort of stuff...

The street is all clear and ready for the cyclists - check

Discussing some last minute preparations with the human staff

More of the human staff - enjoying the attention. I'll have words with him later about keeping both paws on the wheel!

Here they come!

Some of the canine staff found it hard not to give chase!

Team GB looking a little tired...

Oh, thank you, thank you. You are doing such a good job! Now mommy really wants to be there. She’d be really safe with Alfie on duty!

She would be safe (as long as she’s not covered in peanut butter in which case I cannot guarantee she won’t be licked all over!) *waggy tail*

I must have missed the sheep dog part. I admit I was in a blog tractor beem so I only “caught” parts of it

I am always looking and hoping to see my dog parents on the tv but I am sure they are not at the games. How fun for you guarding the games – I would like to use my howl to start events instead of that nasty starting gun! Enjoy yourself and the games! Emma :)

We can see on your pictures that you have full control over the whole security!!!
Did the humans serve you some good food after that hard work?

They sure knew who to pick for security. That must have been great fun having the race come right by your house.

IT was pawsome! Only think making it better would have been if I was allowed to run and chase the bikes! *waggy tail*
