Bank Holidays are the precious few days every year that employers give humans to spend more time with their dogs. This Bank Holiday I took my humans to Richmond for a treat walk along the Thames. I might have been a little selfish when I picked the venue, but I really wanted to get some swimming in and I know my humans don’t mind occasionally throwing a couple of sticks into the water for me to chase.
Anyway, on our way to the river we had to walk through a big field, full of humans flying kites, walking their dogs and playing football. There were also a couple of cows way too far away to cause us any trouble. We started a game of fetch and had a fab time in the sunshine. I ran like the wind and never missed a single throw even though my humans were trying to trick me with different directions and fake throws.
I was just catching my breath and as we looked up the cows were a whole lot closer than before. I saw my chance to try out those Entlebucher herding skills I’m supposed to have, but my lead was clicked on before I had time to even think ‘run’.
I accepted defeat and we started walking towards the gate leading to the river, when another human appeared amongst the cows – and he didn’t look overly impressed. In fact, he was telling my humans off for letting their dog loose so close to the cows and blah blah blah he continued, saying something about the cows being nasty and twitchy because they had been attacked in the past. He clearly didn’t know he was talking to a professional cow herder -as if I would ever attack the cows. I’d just like to help him round them up, maybe sniff them a little, but for some reason my humans didn’t bother explaining that to him (Perhaps because he looked really mean and carried some sort of scary looking cutter with him).
The rest of the walk was awesome too. I got to sniff a horse (boy they are BIG) and went swimming in the Thames.

An adventurous Bank Holiday then! And gorgeous weather as well, right?
So do you have another Bank Holiday today, Ascension Day?
And beautiful weather again?!
Hope you’ll have a chance to take your humans out for another adventure!
But beware of grumpy men with dangerous looking tools….
I don’t think we have any more Bank Holidays until August now
